The most common reason for choosing a blackout fabric for your blind is to make bedrooms as dark as possible, to help your sleep remain undisturbed by external light. However these types of blinds do not need to be limited to bedrooms, we also see them used in other areas of the house such as Living Rooms, Cinema Rooms, or anywhere you need to block a bit more light.

You will need to bear in mind that roller blinds have approximately a 20mm gap either side of the fabric, vertical blinds are a slatted style product which will allow some light through in between the slats and Duette® TruFit® blinds will have a small gap at the top and bottom of the blinds where the foot of the blind meets the bead of the window. If you need a 100% perfect blackout, we would recommend engaging with a company who can offer measuring and installation services, as they will have products more suitable for this which we don't offer online.

To summarise, all you need to do is measure in 3 places for both the width and drop. Ensure you use a metal tape measure rather than a cloth one, for increased accuracy. It is important to check for any obstructions, such as window handles, to ensure the blind doesn't come into contact with anything when it is being lowered.

In a nutshell, hold each bracket into place and mark the hole positions. Fit each bracket using suitable screws. Please ensure fixings are suitable for the wall/surface to which you are mounting the brackets. Once again, it is important to check for any obstructions like window handles, please account for this when choosing where to fit your blinds.
