The enduring attraction of roller blinds can be attributed to their exceptional adaptability, establishing them as the preferred option for the majority of homeowners but before you measure, make sure that you know the full extent of the benefits that come with these versatile blinds.
Convenience
These blinds are not only incredibly stylish but also very convenient. To clean, all you need to do is use a microfibre cloth or extend the blind to vacuum the material, guaranteeing they’ll last for years. There are also roller blinds specifically designed for high-traffic areas like kitchens and bathrooms that are completely waterproof, helping to keep your home, especially if you have young children or pets, mess-free. An easy and no-fuss way to inject some colour into your home, these blinds are also very simple to install, making them convenient from the moment you pick your colour to the time they need a quick and easy clean.
Privacy
If you live by a busy road or perhaps a street with heavy foot traffic, you’ll know how important privacy is when you have lots of people passing your windows. Roller blinds help keep your home comfortable and bright while giving you total control of your privacy. Simply pull open your blinds to enjoy the view while protecting your home from the eyes of those wandering past. When needed, roller blinds are also great for ventilation and blocking out unwanted noise so they are perfect for houses that are exposed to both passers-by and intruding sounds.
Light control
Ideal for young children who need their sleep, night shift workers, or those wanting to enjoy a well-deserved lie-in as the sun rises earlier and earlier, blackout roller blinds offer a method of light control that allows each user a peaceful sleep, undisturbed by light. By offering light control, temperature control is also an option to help prevent your home from overheating in summer or getting too cold in winter.
Compact
No matter the size or shape of your window, roller blinds are designed to be slimline, fitting perfectly into your spaces and sitting flat by the glazing when rolled down, taking up no extra space. Perfect for smaller spaces or those with a preference for minimalist interiors, made-to-measure blinds offer a simple and elegant solution that won’t compromise practicality or effectiveness.
Versatility
Lastly, one of the biggest benefits these blinds offer is versatility. Suitable for any space and room, these beautiful blinds come in a range of designs and finishes; blackout, anti-microbial, flame-retardant and moisture-repellent options mean they are extremely practical and can be used in any environment in the home. As well as their practicality and convenience, these blinds are available in a large selection of colours and designs from the subtle baby lavender and elegant blue haze to the bold cacti splash and eye-catching apple florabundance. Whether you need a beautifully designed room-darkening blind for your child’s bedroom or a pastel palette of window coverings for your home by a busy street, there is a blind for every budget and preference.
How to measure your blinds
Once you’ve selected your blinds, it’s important to learn how to properly measure them before they are fitted to ensure they look just as you envision. Have a look at some information from our guides below (also available to view on our website) to help you bring your dream blinds to life.
Square bay/box bay guide
This guide is for square bay and box bay windows where the main point here is to note that due to the spacing caused by the brackets, there will always be gaps in between the fabric of the blinds where the windows are not covered. There are three ways of measuring the width of the blind in these particular windows. The simplest is to measure the full width of the bay from side to side and order this blind as the recess size. Measure the sides in the same way then deduct the bracket allowance from the width.
Option two should allow all three blinds to meet in the middle without overlapping by leaving a square void in the corners. Measure all three sections directly into the corners before deducting the bracket allowance from the measurement and double the bracket allowance from the front blind.
Lastly, the third option should be used if the measurement you end up with once you have deducted the bracket allowance from the side measurements is smaller than the minimum width we can make a roller blind. Measure the blinds into the corner and use this measurement to order both as recess size. Measure the front from corner to corner again but then deduct the bracket allowance from the width to allow for side blinds.
Angled bay measuring guide
To measure angled bay windows, all you need is two pieces of A4 or A5 paper, a pencil, a ruler and a metal tape measure. If you have window handles or vents that stick out from the window frame, measure how far these protrude and add this to your bracket depth. Using two pieces of paper, place them edge to edge and mark them both at the required measurement. Then slide the two pieces towards each other along the window sill until the two marks you made meet up. Using a pencil, make a mark on the window sill at the point where the paper meets the window frame and then measure from one mark to the next to establish the width of the blind you’ll need to order. Before you know it, you’ll have beautiful blinds hanging in your windows, breathing new life into your home.
