Duette blinds are a great choice for many homes. Versatile and available in a wide variety of fabrics, colours and textures, our 25mm range is also extremely energy efficient. Featuring an innovative honeycomb design which traps air, Duette blinds reduce heat loss by up to 55%. This helps to keep your house warm in the winter and cool in the summer whilst saving on energy bills.

In this blog, we introduce you to our selection of Duette blinds and provide our top tips on how to fit them. Available in three operation types our most popular option being our drill-free range of Tru Fit® Duette blinds, which also come with the option of retractable handles for use with Bifolding doors.

How to fit a Duette blind

Blinds 4 All offers three ranges of Duette blinds: Handle Blinds, SmartCord Blinds and TruFit Blinds. We have included information on how to measure for each of our Duette blind types below, to make the process effortless.

Duette Handle Blind

Duette Handle blinds attach to your window frames, beads or recess, using discreet concealed brackets on two rails. Available with single or multiple handles, they allow you to easily close blinds by moving the handles up or down.

The first thing to consider when measuring for your new Duette Handle blinds is whether you will be fitting them inside or outside of the recess.

Inside the recess

When fitting inside the recess (also known as the window reveal), measure the full width and height of the recess. Don’t factor in deductions so that your blind will fit, as we will do this for you.

When taking measurements, use a metal tape measure and measure both the width and drop in three places, providing us with the smallest measurements. This will ensure your blind doesn’t catch on the side of the recess as it is lowered.

Outside the recess

When fitting blinds outside of the recess, measure the full width and height of the recess and add as much height and width as you would like.

To minimise light leakage, we recommend that the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm either side, particularly in rooms where people will be sleeping.

For blinds fitted outside of the recess, we will make the blind at the size you have specified, there will be no deductions to the width or the drop.

Top tips for fitting Duette Handle blinds:
  • When fitting Duette Handle blinds, your recess will need to be at least 50mm deep, unless you are fixing directly to the frame of the window, in which case the depth of the recess doesn’t matter.
  • When measuring the depth of your recess, bear in mind any obstructions such as handles.

Duette SmartCord Blind

Duette SmartCord blinds operate using a retractable cord for a more discreet opening and closing method.

They are top-fixed or face-fixed to a recess or wall and are therefore measured in the same way as Duette Handle blinds, depending on whether you prefer them fixed inside or outside of the recess.

Top tips for fitting Duette SmartCord Blinds:
  • When fitting Duette SmartCord blinds, your recess will need to be at least 50mm deep.
  • If you are replacing an existing blind with one of the same size, measure the blind (including its fittings) and specify ‘Blind Size’ fitting, so we can make you a new blind in the same size.

Duette TruFit Blind

Duette TruFit blinds fit directly to the glass and are completely drill free and screw free. They offer both hassle-free installation and unparalleled shading control, enabling you to adjust them from both the bottom up and the top down.

Because Duette TruFit blinds are fitted directly to the glass they move with the window, making them the perfect option for tilt and turn windows, French doors, Bi-folding doors and more.

To fit Duette TruFit blinds, measure the glazed area on your window. Next, refer to our measuring guide to see how much you need to add or remove, depending on the type of beading on your windows.
